Make no mistake ! There is no castle at la Pointe des Châteaux. This name comes from a community of Capucins who made this place its parish in 1963. At the tip of the island, a 9 tons and 33 feet high cross was erected. Pointe des Châteaux gained the label Grand Site de France®, which includes the most prestigious fragile, protected cultural landscape.
Take the Pointe des Châteaux road, and walk along some beautiful beaches such as La Coulée, Anse Champagne or La Douche.
You will also come across many restaurants such as : « Le Colombo », « L’Iguane Café » or le « Man Michel ». Work your toes into the white sand, and enjoy this unique warm feeling! As soon as you get to the beach, Jordan, famous vendor at Pointe des Chateaux, will welcome you with coconuts leaf hats!
Take the path on the other side of the beach and climb up the hill to the cross! A 10-15 minutes hike to the top will allow you to access a breathtaking view! You will be able to see all of the 4 other islands of the archipelago: la Desirade, Marie-Galante, Les Saintes and Basse-Terre! And if you are lucky enough, you might be able to see the whales who are crossing the coast during the month of May…
